The History Of Edward Place

Built in 1883 as a dwelling house, the property pre-dates even the Blackpool Tower itself. We have pieced together some of it's fascinating history below and even found some pictures from the very early days of Crystal Road.

Crystal Road In Victorian Times

This early image of Crystal Road shows number 14 in it's early days.

Note the horse and cart parked outside. No parking permits in those days!

We are the one with the bush next to the original bay window.

Churches Never Change

This is a view of Crystal Road from the Promenade end of the street.

Towards the far end of the street on the right hand side you can see St. Cuthbert's Church which still looks very similar even today!

The building directly opposite the far end of the street is also very recognisable as you stand looking in this direction today.

Corner Shop - Long Gone

Originally there was a corner shop at the Promenade end of Crystal Road.

This was later replaced by a large hotel with a car park at the front.
